Current Status: There are no reports of any Pomona Catholic School community members having contracted the novel corona virus.
L.A. County Public Health assessment of risk level in L.A. County is: Low
The County of Los Angeles has declared a local public health emergency and the governor has declared a state of emergency for the State of California.  These declarations were made in order to allow for more efficient management of resources needed to prepare for and combat the coronavirus.
Pomona Catholic School is closely monitoring an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a coronavirus. The virus has been designated SARS-CoV-2, while the disease it causes has been designated COVID-19.
To date, the vast majority of individuals diagnosed with this virus are in mainland China, followed by Iran, Italy and South Korea. Cases are also present in the United States, including in California.
This is an evolving situation, and updates are available from LA County Public Health (LAC PH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including updated travel notices for areas with community transmission.
