Grading for Learning
Pomona Catholic teachers, administration, in partnership with parents work collaboratively to ensure a standard level of academic proficiency. One of the models we used is Grading for Learning. Behavior, attendance, missed deadlines and other non-academic factors are not to be considered when grading work. Under the grading for learning philosophy, students are given an opportunity to learn material, to re-learn or to strive for mastery; to re-test; to submit delinquent work late without a grade consequence. Parents can expect communication with the teacher about the next steps for their student.
