On Friday, February 14 all 6th-12th grade students will attend a Love Yourself assembly presented by NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Health.
NAMI, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness, envisions a world where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares. Their mission is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
This 60 minute assembly will cover:
What mental health is
What mental health conditions are and aren't
What is stigma?
How you can help
Suicide warning signs
Please visit https://www.nami.org/About-NAMI for additional information and to learn more about NAMI's resources.
To ensure our community continues to meet the needs of our families and students, we will be assembling a mental health team, comprised of students, teachers and staff to periodically meet with the intent of discussing student needs and how as a school we may address them. On Monday, a Pomona Catholic team will be attending a Mental Health Symposium hosted by The Department of Catholic Schools and Loyola Marymount University's Center for Catholic Education.
